Guglielmo Zappalà, winner of the 2024 AFSE PhD Prize

Each year, the French Economic Association (AFSE) awards its PhD Prize: the 2024 AFSE PhD Prize has been awarded to Guglielmo Zappalà.

This prize was awarded for his thesis entitled "Adaptation, beliefs, and impacts: Essays on the economics of climate" completed at the Paris School of Economics under the supervision of Katrin Millock in 2023.

Guglielmo Zappalà is a postdoctoral researcher at the Environmental Markets Lab (emLab) at UC Santa Barbara and a research fellow at the French Collaborative Institute on Migration.

His thesis comprises four single-authored chapters on the socio-economic impacts and adaptation to climate change, as well as how individuals perceive climate and the role of beliefs in adaptive behavior. Guglielmo Zappalà also obtained the Award for Best Doctoral Dissertations in Environmental and Resource Economics from the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE).
