Program of the Master Public Policy and Development
The Master of Public Policy and Development is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year research program that aims to prepare you to excel in the design, analysis, and evaluation of public policies in both developed and developing countries.
First year of Master’s (M1)
The M1 year focuses on strengthening the fundamental knowledge and basic methodological tools required for quantitative analysis. You will study subjects such as general microeconomics, macroeconomics and quantitative methods in depth. This first year lays the solid foundation that is essential for the rest of the program.
The M1 program offers:
- Mandatory fundamental courses on various topics: market and market failures, competition and regulation, macroeconomic and monetary policies, quantitative methods, policy design and evaluation, economic history;
- CEPREMAP conferences: various policy issues will be analysed by renowned academics and experts, and policy makers;
- A mandatory internship of at least two months: after completing the M1, you will be expected to join an institution responsible for the design or evaluation of public policies;
- 60 ECTS.
Second year of the master (M2)
The M2 year offers in-depth and applied courses on key policy issues at national and global level, as well as the cutting edge of best practice in policy evaluation and econometrics..
The second year of the program is personalized. You will have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of advanced courses so that you can specialize in the areas of most interest to you.
The M2 program offers:
- 2 fundamental courses: empirical methods and public economy;
- 26 ECTS among 30 elective specialization courses;
- 1 research seminar of 8 to choose from;
- 1 research paper;
- 60 ECTS.
