Thierry Verdier is professor at the Paris School of Economics, general engineer of Ponts et Chaussées at the École des ponts et chaussées (ENPC), director of studies cumulating to the French School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) and associate professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He is also a fellow of the European Economic Association (EEA) and a research fellow of the international trade program at the Center of Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
His research covers such topics as international trade and globalization, the economics of social interactions and cultural transmission, as well as the political economy of development and institutions and the economics of crime and conflicts
