The George Gamow prize 2024 of the Russian-American Science Association (RASA-America) has been awarded to Ekaterina Zhuravskaya for her researchs that has made a significant contribution to understanding the functioning of institutions, including in transition economies, especially aspects related to the political economy and economics of the media industry.
This prize for outstanding contribution to science, as well as for efforts to promote international co-operation and the preservation of Russian cultural heritage, has been awarded since 2015. It is named after George Gamow, an outstanding Soviet and American physicist and populariser of science, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and member of the US National Academy of Sciences.
It is a great honor for me to receive the George Gamow Award. The life and career of Gamow is a great inspiration for Russian-speaking academics from around the world who continue to push the boundaries of knowledge. His relentless curiosity and groundbreaking contributions to science serve as a reminder that science knows no borders. I thank the Russian-American Science Association and the Award Committee for recognizing my work and hope that this year’s Award will inspire new interdisciplinary research in social sciences.
