Economics for everybody : Claudia Goldin, Nobel Prize in Economics 2023

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded to Harvard professor Claudia Goldin for her research into gender inequality in the labor market. She becomes the third woman to receive this distinction, after Elinor Ostrom in 2009 and Esther Duflo in 2019.

To analyze the main factors behind gender inequalities in the labor market, Claudia Goldin adopted a historical approach. According to her, only a long-term perspective can fully capture these disparities and explain the ongoing social transformations.
